Oedipus Rehearsals Day 12

By Apollo, some exciting things are going on in the Oedipus rehearsal room! We are nearing the end of choreographing and staging the production and it’s looking good! Now that the actors are in costume it seems much more real; they are bedding down into the world and getting a bit dirty whilst they are there – sometimes literally! It’s also great to see the movement pieces and stylised elements of the production standing next to the more dialogue-driven episodes. It’s like a theatrical oxymoron – both convey beauty and brutality, and are positioned in the action in such a way to simultaneously compliment and contrast with each other, which I think is really exciting. We’ll be doing the first run through of the whole play tomorrow, which will be a chance for everyone to cement their characters’ journeys (emotional and physical!) and really get clear in our heads the shape of the play. We’re all go in Camberwell, so you go get your tickets!
