Richard III Rehearsals Day 10

Second week done! A little break and then on to our week of staging.

Friday was yet another text day. Same system as the previous ones: we read and we analyse.

We worked on Lady Anne’s last speech. There was a debate on where, when and how the queen takes her life. Is she already crowned? Is she poisoning herself or taking matters into her own hands?

Then it was time for Richard to get himself a new queen. This scene, where he confronts Elizabeth to tell her he intends on marrying her daughter and ask her help in wooing her, it is the longest scene in the whole play which also makes it one of the most powerful and tricky. It gave us a lot of work and we then all went through each line analysing the tactics of negotiation.

Monday – still a bit of text work to go through in the morning and then we’ll starts staging!
