60 Seconds with the cast – Kemi-Bo Jacobs

Give us your full name and the character you are playing.
Kemi-bo Jacobs playing Exeter
Where in the UK are you from?
North East England, a’wey mate!
What was your first theatrical experience, either on stage or in the auditorium?
Village Panto. I spent most of the evening feeling bemused and a little petrified, but to be honest I could see much, but with retrospect I count that as a blessing.
What was your first experience of Shakespeare?
Macbeth at school. Not a bad experience actually. My English teacher, called Ms Martin was a passionate Scottish spinster. She loved literature and her passion was infectious.
What was your first experience of King Henry V?
The BBC’s recent series of The Hollow Crown, I hadn’t really seen any of the histories before then, but lately they seem to be everywhere, which is great because they really are epic and brilliant and exciting…I could go on
What was your first thought when you heard about an all-female King Henry V?
About time!
Tell us the title of your favourite play.
Haven’t discovered it yet, I’m afraid.
Who is your theatrical inspiration?
It changes…I recently saw Ralph Fiennes in Man and Superman at the National. The man is unbelievably brilliant…he’s my current inspiration, what a talent!
If you had to choose, who is your favourite female actor / actress?
Do I really have to choose, though? Dead: Bette Davis Alive: Juliet Lewis
In King Henry V, the French Dauphin sends Harry tennis balls, what’s your favourite ball game?
It’s a gladiatorial game of power, poise and precision…brain and body really working together and you sweat a lot.
